BPC-157 is a 15-amino-acid fragment of a protein found in human gastric juice, where it is stable for more than 24 hours. It is proposed as a mediator of Robert's cytoprotection — the stomach's intrinsic ability to protect its lining — and as a modulator of the nitric-oxide system and angiogenesis 1.
Across several hundred rodent studies from the University of Zagreb group, BPC-157 has been reported to accelerate healing of tendon, ligament, muscle and bone junctions 3, gastrointestinal fistulas and anastomoses 2, and to counteract vascular occlusion by recruiting collateral pathways 1. Its safety profile in animal models is notable: an LD1 has not been reached.
