HPLC purity
Reverse-phase high-performance liquid chromatography quantifies the target peptide against impurities and truncated sequences. The purity figure on your COA is batch-specific.
Mass-spec identity
Mass spectrometry confirms the molecular weight of the peptide matches the theoretical mass of the intended sequence — the check that you're getting the right molecule.
Lyophilized & stored cold
Peptides are freeze-dried for stability and held at −20 °C before dispatch. Lyophilized powder tolerates transit; once reconstituted, keep refrigerated.
How to read a Certificate of Analysis
A COA is a one- or two-page report tied to a specific batch number. The key fields:
- Product & batch/lot number — must match the label on your vials.
- Purity (HPLC) — the percentage of the sample that is the intended peptide. Look for the chromatogram: a single dominant peak with minor satellites.
- Identity (MS) — the observed mass versus the theoretical mass. These should agree within instrument tolerance.
- Appearance — typically "white lyophilized powder".
- Net peptide content — where reported, the fraction of vial mass that is peptide versus counter-ions and residual water.
If any of these are missing from a COA a supplier gives you — ours included — ask.
Storage and handling guidance
- Lyophilized vials: store at −20 °C protected from light. Short periods at 2–8 °C during handling are acceptable.
- Allow vials to reach room temperature before opening to prevent condensation on the powder.
- Reconstituted solutions: store at 2–8 °C and use bacteriostatic diluent for multi-draw vials. Avoid repeated freeze–thaw.
- Peptides with free cysteines or methionine (e.g. BPC-157 blends, MOTS-c) are more oxidation-sensitive — minimise headspace air and light.
